In April of 1998 I was diagnosed with a rare, incurable autoimmune disease called Wegener’s Granulomatosis. It can severely effect many organs in the body, especially the lungs, kidneys, and sinuses, as well as the vascular system, and functions such as eyesight, hearing, etc. High dosages of chemotherapy drugs and steroids stopped the progress of the Wegener’s and saved my life, but left me with devastating side effects.

Two of the conditions caused me particular distress. The high dosage of steroids caused the blood to stop flowing to my hip joints, which resulted in the bone dying (known as Avascular Necrosis or AVN). This left me with a chronic pain that never let up for a moment. Painkillers made me feel bad and only slightly diminished the pain, so, using a cane, I learned to accept life with pain. This went on for more than two years, all the time my doctor recommending two hip replacements, which I did not want to do.

The second problem, while not crippling, was even more devastating to me. My skin erupted in psoriasis that covered most of my body, including spots on my face and head. The burning and itching persisted day and night. While asleep at night, I would scratch so hard that in the morning my body and the sheets were speckled with blood. The dead skin would accumulate so quickly that my body was continually shedding ounces of skin each hour. Wherever I sat, I would leave a small pile of white flakes on the floor. I was embarrassed to visit friends’ homes, and I wore clothing that completely covered my body, no matter what the weather. No traditional or alternative medicines were able to give me any relief. The suffering was intense, and I was extremely distraught.

Both conditions persisted for several years. I finally consulted with a hip surgeon to prepare for the first hip replacement. While considering the reality of this surgery, I took a trip to Maui. I had found over the years that the only relief from the “heartbreak of psoriasis” was soaking in warm ocean water. After a few days in the sun and salt water, my skin would clear up and would stay that way for a week or two after I returned home. My wife and I were considering a move to the tropics in order to save my sanity.

While on Maui, I read a magazine article about John of God. The stories of the miraculous healings sounded all too good to be true, but I was suffering and desperate. If there was any chance of healing this horrendous skin condition and avoiding the hip replacements, I wanted to take it.

A few weeks later I was off to Brazil to see Joao de Deus, or John of God. Joao assured me he could help me with the psoriasis. For the pain in my hip, he simply waved his hand and said, “I’ll take that pain away.” I also asked if we would have to move to Hawaii. He said, “That won’t be necessary.”

Waking up on my second day in Brazil, I noticed a marked improvement in my skin. However, the pain still remained in my hips, and I was ready to go for the hip surgery. Then, five days after coming home, as I slowly climbed the steps to our apartment, I noticed there was no pain in my hips. That was a startling moment, because the pain had existed every moment of the previous 2 1/2 years.

My first thought was that there was simply a momentary “glitch” in the pain, and that it would return by the time I reached the door. To my amazement and delight, the pain had not come back when I got to the door, nor has it returned in the years since. I had been barely able to bend at the hips, but now I can squat, hike, and dance with joy—and without pain. What the wave of a hand can accomplish! Thank you, God.

Within a few weeks of being home, the intensity of the burning and itching of my skin had significantly diminished. Some of the dead skin persisted, but the constant irritation was gone. Over the next few months my body continued to show improvement. No more scratching and bleeding, and much less flaking. As time went on the skin began to heal and large patches of psoriasis disappeared. Today most of it is totally gone, and the small amount left is in red patches that rest quietly on my skin and don’t make flakes. My “heartbreak” is totally gone. Thank you, God.

I have been many times now to visit the spiritual entities through the medium Joao. On one of these occasions, they removed a number of skin cancers on my hands and face. Again, with a simple hand gesture and “I’ll take it away.” They had all disappeared two days later.

The entities also healed a torn rotator cuff that had been a nagging pain in my shoulder for three months. This happened in a moment as I stood before Joao; nothing was said. The pain simply disappeared and never came back.

While I was there on my third visit, my mother in Florida suffered a mild heart attack. The next day Joao picked me out of the crowd of 500-600 people and sent me into his room. I had just received an e-mail that morning about my mom’s condition. That afternoon I showed Joao my mother’s photo and he said “I’ve taken care of her already.” I received an e-mail the next day that my mother’s heart was now fine. She was out of the ICU and sent home a day or two later. Thank you, God.

Every visit to John of God has been a profound experience for me. Not only for the “miraculous” physical healings that I’ve experienced, but also the “miraculous” spiritual heart openings that seem to spontaneously blossom in the atmosphere of the healing center known as the Casa de Dom Inacio. I feel incredibly blessed to have been healed of my pain and suffering. I pray that anyone who can will make the journey to Joao and the healing entities of the Casa.

Over the years I’ve guided many people to John of God, and everyone has experienced some degree of physical and/or spiritual healing. It is a life-transforming experience that is so unique in the entire world, that I recommend everyone take advantage of this rare and unbelievable opportunity.
